Dan Hughes, a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, wants to be District 4 county commissioner.

Hughes, a Democrat, resides in the Berea Church community with his wife, Deborah, of 33 years.

He owns and operates a small cattle farm. The Hughes have one daughter and four grandchildren.

Hughes owned and managed a family restaurant in Summerville, Ga., for the past eight and a half years.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to run for commissioner. I believe that government, regardless of the level, should be of the people and for the people,” Hughes said.

“I want to be your voice in county government. As an elected official we need to listen to the people we represent.”

“I will be accessible,” he said.
