Centre voters are allowed to vote seven times for council members. They can distribute the votes as they please, whether they vote for the same council member seven times or seven different candidates.
Poll workers presented for the council’s consideration seven provisional ballots and 10 qualified ballots which was presented by the board of registrars. From the qualified ballots, Mayorial Candidate Jay Howell received eight more votes for a total of 355 and Candidate Tony Wilkie received one more vote for a total of 540.
In the city council race, Shelia Barrett’s votes remained the same for a total of 343; Glenn Chandler received two more votes for a total of 385, Jean Gossett’s votes remained the same at 128, Marc Johnson received 24 more votes for a total of 840, Frankie Kelly’s votes remained the same at 838, Harry Moon’s votes remained the same at 464, Phillip L. Roberts received 13 more votes for a total of 802, Ronnie Strawbridge’s votes remained the same at 334, Darlene (Cricket) Swafford’s votes remained the same at 332, Derrick Wheeler received 19 more votes for a total of 695, Agnes Wright received six more votes for a total of 283 and Bess R. Yarbrough received five more votes for a total of 658.
