Cherokee County wins 7-1 over Dadeville, loses 9-8 to Alabama Christian in state high school softball action

Cherokee County won 7-1 over Dadeville in AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association) Class 4A State Softball action in Montgomery Thursday afternoon.

Cherokee County scored one run in in the first,two in the third and one in the fifth. Dadeville scored their only run in the fifth.

In the game, Kaitlyn Griffith went two for thre with three runs and two stolen bases. Madison Millsaps went one for two RBIs. Lauren Millsaps was also 1 to 4 with an RBI and Molly Brewer was 2 to 4 with an RBI.

The primary pitcher was Lauren Millsaps. She went all seven innings, gave up one earned run on five hits with three wakls and seven strikeouts.

In the second game, Cherokee County lost to Alabama Christian 9-8. Cherokee County rallied from a 6-0 deficit with five runs in the fifth but Alabama Christian scored two runs in the sixth to take an 8-5 lead.

Cherokee County rallied again with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 8. Alabama Christian scored which proved to be the winning run in the top of the seventh.

As for hitters stats in the game, Lauren Millsaps had 304 with two runs and three RBIS; Candace Blanchard had 2 for 4 and two RBIs and Madison Millsaps was one for two with two runs and two RBIs. Darbie Rosser was 2 for 4 with two runs.

The losing pitcher was Tori Davis who came in to releive Lauren Millsaps. Davis gave up two earned runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. Lauren Millsaps started the game and pitched 4 and 1/3 innings, gave up three earned runs on seven hits. with four strikeouts and a walk.

Cherokee County is 41-11 and will play Florence at 5:30 this afternoon.
