Deputies arrest eight in connection to Open House Party

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office arrested eight people over the weekend in connection to an Open House Party on Weiss Lake.

According to Public Information Officer Mark Hicks, Deputy Shawn Rogers, on Sunday, Sept. 6, responded to the Sheriff's Office and met with a complainant about people using their lake lot and residence without permission from the owners. Deputies Rogers, Dixon and Pettitt responded to the property located on Co Rd 530 in the Hopewell area of Leesburg.

Upon deputies' arrival, several subjects attempted to flee the property on foot but were stopped by the Officers. Officers stated there were approximately 40 to 50 people at the property along with numerous vehicles, Hicks said.

Officers determined through their investigation there was alcohol and drug paraphernalia on the property. It was also determined there were persons under the age of 21 drinking and some were intoxicated. The youngest person at the party was 14 years old. Everyone between the age of 18 and 21 was arrested and charged with Minor in possession of alcohol by consumption. The suspects under the age of 18 were held at the scene until parents could respond to the location and pick them up. A total of eight people were arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, said Hicks.



Those arrested, according to Hicks, were, Emily Ann Roden, 19, of Collinsville;, Matthew Lamar Bailey, 20, of Gadsden, Jonathan Scott Williamson, 20, of Attalla; Justin Bryan Tidmore, 19, of Gadsden; Arianna Ryan-Morris Brown, 19, of Attalla; Kathryn Marie Morgan, 20, of Gadsden; Jayson Michael Jester, 20, of Glencoe, and Justin Caleb Griffith, 19, of Wellington.



Justin Caleb Griffith admitted responsibility for the party and he was also charged with Open House Parties, Hicks said.
