Four arrested in the Sand Rock community

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies accompanied Cherokee County Department of Human Resource staff members to a residence on County Road 49 in recent days, and upon entering, they noticed the smell synthetic marijuana.

Deputies detained the adults and obtained a search warrant. Other family members of the children were contacted, and DHR completed a safety plan for the children. Arrested, according to Shaver were Joey Dean Mullins II, 24;, June Renee Mullins, 24 and Benita Jordan Penland, 58, all of Cedar Bluff, and Bobby Dewayne Wright, 32, of Leesburg who were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and chemical endangerment of a child.
