Friday Basketball Roundup: Sand Rock girls remain unbeaten in area play with win over West End

SAND ROCK - Jolonna Silva posted 10 points, six rebounds, five steals, an assist and a blocked shot in leading Class 2A, No. 10 Sand Rock to a 56-29 basketball victory over West End of Walnut Grove on Friday.

Leslie Mackey contributed eight points and three boards for the Lady Wildcats (13-4, 5-0 Area 11). Madison Smith, Emily Langley and Amber Ashley each scored seven points.

Smith also had nine rebounds, three steals and an assist. Langley had three assists, a pair of rebounds and a steal. Ashley added three steals and two boards. Madison McCullough finished with six points, seven rebounds two assists and two steals.

Sand Rock looks to finish out Area 11 play unbeaten with a trip to Rainbow City to face Westbrook Christian on Tuesday.

West End boys 55, Sand Rock boys 37

SAND ROCK - Caleb Mayo connected on four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points to lead West End to a 55-37 win at Area 11 rival Sand Rock on Friday.

Dakota Mabry led the Wildcats (8-10, 3-2) with 12 points. Caylon Simpson added 11 points and Devon Howard finished with six points.

Raymond Chapman added 12 points for West End.

The Patriots led throughout the game, holding a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 26-19 advantage at halftime. Sand Rock trailed 43-31 at the end of three quarters.

Sand Rock travels to Westbrook Christian on Tuesday.

Cedar Bluff boys 69, Jacksonville Christian boys 30

JACKSONVILLE - DeAngelo Hardy netted 27 points, helping the Cedar Bluff Tigers claim a 69-30 win at Jacksonville Christian on Friday.

Terrence Scales added 15 points for the Tigers (10-7). D'Shawn Fife finished with nine points.

Cedar Bluff travels to Coosa Christian on Tuesday.

Cedar Bluff girls 58, Jacksonville Christian girls 22

JACKSONVILLE - Audrianna Hargitt and Katie McGinnis both scored 10 points to lead the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers to a 58-22 victory at Jacksonville Christian on Friday.

Lexi Moten added nine points for Cedar Bluff (10-8).

Cedar Bluff travels to Coosa Christian on Tuesday.

Collinsville boys 73, Coosa Christian boys 29

GADSDEN - Davey Posey posted 16 points and six rebounds to help Class 1A, No. 3 Collinsville earn a 73-29 victory over Coosa Christian on Friday.

Deshawn Moore added 10 points, six boards, five assists and four steals for the Panthers (16-2, 7-0 Area 10). Daniel Bradford also had 10 points. David Hernandez contributed seven points and five boards. Brady Osborn finished with eight points.

Collinsville plays Ider in the DeKalb County Tournament on Monday at 8 p.m.

Collinsville girls 52, Coosa Christian girls 19

GADSDEN - Christy Cox tallied 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Collinsville Lady Panthers to a Class 1A, Area 10 win at Coosa Christian on Friday.

Savannah Boyles added 13 points and seven boards for the Lady Panthers (14-4, 5-2). Kiana Ford finished with seven points and eight boards.

Collinsville takes on Ider in the DeKalb County Tournament on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Piedmont girls 64, Weaver girls 21

PIEDMONT - Brittany Holloway, Bre Green and BreAnna Thompson each scored 14 points to lead the Piedmont Lady Bulldogs past Weaver 64-21 on Friday.

Piedmont (16-5) plays Wellborn on Monday at 4 p.m. to open the Calhoun County Tournament.

In boys action, Piedmont fell to Weaver 92-66. The Bulldogs trailed 56-28 at halftime. No further information was available.

Piedmont (6-14) plays Jacksonville on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Calhoun County Tournament. The winner of that game plays No. 1 seed Oxford on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
