A driver is in custody following a high-speed chase in the Lookout Mountain and Gaylesville areas Sunday afternoon, April 10.

According to reports, Fort Payne officers chased a white Mustang into Chero-kee County through Blanche and Watson`s Crossroads. Cherokee County deputies assisted in the chase, which ended when the vehicle arrived in Gaylesville.

Alabama State Troopers, reports said, were waiting for the Mustang at the four-way-stop with spike strips. The strips reportedly punctured the left front tire of the fleeing vehicle, which eluded police for over 18 miles.

Fort Payne Agents took the subject into custody around 7:45 p.m Sunday, according to reports
