Despite a looming threat of rain and drizzle, Cherokee Humane Society was proud to report another succesful Fall Flower sale during a recent weekend. This year’s event, held once again at Bypass Pawn in Centre, raised more than $11,000.

“It's been hopping since we started this morning,” said Jo Ann Payne, fundraising chairperson, Cherokee Humane Society. “We had a little drizzle going when we started. About the time we got everything set up, it stopped raining. You can see, it is jammed-packed! We are selling a lot of hay,a ot of pumpkins and lots of flowers.”

“It is going really well,” said Freda Waters, president, Cherokee Humane Society. “We've already sold a lot.”

Mrs. Payne expressed her appreciation to the many contributors to this year’s event, including Tommy Loder and Loder’s Plant Farm who supplied the mums and other plants, Bron Bradley and Spring Creek Nursery for providing Butterfly bushes, crepe myrtles, trees and other plants, Harvey Kiser of Cedar Bluff who provided the hay, Harlan Richardson and Dixie Green Nursery for providing plants.

She also expressed her appreciation to the local media for their coverage of the event.

Door prizes were given away throughout the day.

“We had a great day!” said Mrs. Payne. “We were almost sold out!”

Cherokee Humane Society expresses its appreciation to local citizens for their continued support and reminds them that the next CHS fundraiser will be the Pet Pictureds With Santa, scheduled for Nov. 13, at the Cedar Bluff Town Park Pavilion
