Cherokee County High’s standout varsity softball season came to an abrupt halt last Thursday and Friday at Pisgah.

The No, 5 ranked Lady Warriors (32-10) opened the Class 3A, Area 16 Tournament with a 2-0 win over Plainview on Thursday.

On Friday, CCHS lost 6-0 to No. 1 ranked Pisgah, followed by a 6-3 setback to Plainview.

In Thursday’s Plainview game, winning pitcher Lauren Milsaps allowed three hits and three walks while striking out nine in seven innings.

At the plate for the Lady Warriors, Kaitlyn Griffith went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Milsaps went 2-for-3.

Carrie Machleit went 1-for-2 with a run scored, while Bree Blevins went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Against Pisgah, Machleit went 1-for-2.

Blevins, Milsaps and Kara Bomian each went 1-for-3.

In the loss to Plainview on Friday, Milsaps in seven innings allowed three hits, four walks and two earned runs while fanning eight.

Rachel Hale went 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Anissa Anglin went 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Carrie Machleit went 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Milsaps went 1-for-3.

Griffith and Bomian each had a hit
