The Cedar Bluff Town Council on Wednesday appointed Joan May to fill the District 2 position left vacant when Rick Sides resigned in July.
Sides, a marine officer, moved out of the town limits. The council called a special meeting Wednesday morning to vote on the appointment.
May is a retired elementary schoolteacher who has lived in Cedar Bluff all of her life. She said she enjoys being involved in community affairs and looks forward to working with the Town Council
