Madison County led the entire game, but CCHS managed to cut the lead to four points in the third quarter.
The Lady Tigers continued to put more points on the board, though, and had a 12-point lead at the end of the period.
The fourth quarter was no different.
Behind Teresa Matthews’ 10 points, the Lady Tigers extended their lead and secured a spot in the Northeast Regional Tournament.
Matthews led Madison County with 33 points, and Ashley Green added 11.
The leading scorer for the Lady Warriors was Jordan Morgan with 22 points, while Whitney Bowers had 11.
Matthews started the game big with 10 first quarter points, helping to get the Lady Tigers started early and give them a 14-7 lead at the end of the quarter.
Madison County started the second eight minutes with the same firepower, going on a 15-7 run.
The Lady Warriors continued to fight back, and managed to cut the Lady Tiger lead to 29-19 at the half.
Led by Morgan’s two three-point baskets, Cherokee County started the third period on a 7-1 run, but the Lady Tigers ended the quarter on a 10-3 spurt to give them a 46-34 lead.
Centre continued to rally back behind Morgan’s 12 fourth quarter points, but it just wasn’t enough, and the Lady Tigers came away with the 15-point win.
