The Sand Rock Town Council met Nov. 9.
Chief Steve Oliver and Firefighter Keith Morgan met with the Council on behalf of the Sand Rock Volunteer Fire Department. They reported seven calls for October, including one structure fire, one vehicle fire, and four ambulance assists.
Chief Oliver presented the Cherokee County Association of Fire Departments plaque that the department won in the recent competition. It will be displayed in the Sand Rock Fire Department building for one year until the next competition.
Those present applauded the accomplishments of the department.
The financial report was read and approved.
The Road Department is waiting on the delivery of a Children at Play sign to be installed on Langley Lane.
The council will be looking into changes in the Janitorial services for the building.
The local Boy Scouts have volunteered to help put up the Christmas lights in the park this year, as one of their community projects. The 2008/2009 Audit of the Town of Sand Rock was read and approved.
In other news, members were reminded of a Veterans program in the Sand Rock High School Gym and the Farm City Banquet to be held in the Gadsden State Banquet Room.
