FYFFE – Trent Thrash tallied 199 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead Class 2A, No.3 Fyffe to a 32-7 victory over visiting Sand Rock on Friday.

The Red Devils (6-0, 4-0 Region 7) only led 13-0 at halftime, but took a 32-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

Fyffe started the night with a touchdown on a 69-yard pass from Cameron Gipson to Levi Bates. Will Mashburn’s point-after kick made it 7-0 with 5:52 to go in the first.

The Red Devils added a 7-yard touchdown run by Thrash that made it 13-0.

In the third quarter, Fyffe added a 14-yard touchdown pass from Gipson to Kanaan Coppock at the 9:09 mark. The 2-point conversion pass failed, keeping the score at 19-0 Red Devils.

Gipson was 3 of 4 for 113 yards and two scores for Fyffe.

Thrash later broke off a 68-yard touchdown run. Mashburn’s kick made it 26-0 with 5:15 left in the third.

Dakota Newsome added a 63-yard touchdown run with 4:42 to play. Russell Moses’ point-after kick failed.

Sand Rock (3-3 overall, 2-2) scored with 1:21 to play when junior quarterback Dylan Mackey connected on a 16-yard touchdown pass to Chandler Mackey. Ethan Jimmerson’s extra point made it 32-7.

Dylan Mackey finished the night completing 14 of 20 passes for 121 yards. Chandler Mackey led the Wildcats’ ground attack with 83 yards on nine carries.

Matthew Tinsley led Sand Rock’s defense with nine tackles.

Sand Rock entertains Westbrook Christian on Friday. Fyffe travels to Gaston.
