Sand Rock (33-13) fell to the host Lady Red Raiders, 25-12, 25-21 in the Class 2A, Region C Tournament championship match last Saturday at Pleasant Valley.

Both teams advanced to the Elite Eight state tournament this week at Pelham, with the No. 6 Lady ‘Cats making their first appearance since 2002.

Sand Rock opened with a 25-17, 25-16 win over White Plains, followed by a 25-21, 17-25, 25-18 victory over No. 10 Cordova.

The Lady Wildcats then fell to the No. 2 ranked Lady Red Raiders, 17-25, 13-25 before dispatching Holly Pond, 25-14, 25-17.

Pleasant Valley defeated the Lady Wildcats 25-12, 25-21 in the semifinals.

For the Lady Rockers, Taylor Burt notched 48 kills, followed by Angelique Kordich with 30 and Haley Hincy with 11.

Anna Norris distributed 84 assists, while Kordich served up nine aces.

Burt came up with 40 digs, followed by Amy Crane with 26, Sandy Trail with 25, Kordich with 23, Hincy with 18 and Leanna Young with 11.

Burt and Norris made the All-Tournament team
