Sand Rock, Collinsville gain ground in latest volleyball rankings

BIRMINGHAM – The Class 2A Sand Rock Lady Wildcats (17-1) and Class 1A Collinsville Lady Panthers (10-4) both moved up two spots to No. 5 in the latest Birmingham News prep volleyball rankings, released on Thursday.

Sand Rock hosts Area 13 rival Westbrook Christian on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. Collinsville clashes with Pisgah on its home court on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Two other area teams were nominated for this week’s rankings – Class 1A Cedar Bluff (6-7) and Class 3A Piedmont (9-5).

Cedar Bluff travels to Fort Payne on Thursday at 5 p.m. Piedmont is scheduled to play in the Weaver Tournament on Saturday.
