Some Cherokee County service stations are reporting shortages of different blends of gasoline, and nobody is sure just when they may be able to get more.

Norton's Express Mart on West Main Street in Centre had only the premium blend Friday morning. According to manager Susan Pace, the station ran out of the other two blends shortly after 9 o'clock.

Pace said the fact that they can only get premium blend at 20 cents more per gallon than regular wasn't stopping customers from pumping gas. ``Everybody realizes they'd better get what they can,'' Pace said. ``Everybody needs to worry about being able to get it. I'm worried about emergency personnel being able to get gasoline. Will we have enough gas?''

Norton's still was listing regular at $2.89 a gallon with premium at $3.09.

By Pass Quik Stop ran out of all blends Thursday afternoon, and manager Martha Glenn said she doesn't expect to have another shipment before Monday. Prices at Quik Stop still show $2.79 for regular, but Glenn doesn't expect that to hold once she gets another shipment.

The Centre Shell Mart still have a fair supply of all three blends Friday morning. ``It won't last today,'' said Cherry Lecroy. She said she has seen a lot of people filling up extra containers and also topping off their tanks on a daily basis. ``They're keeping it full,'' Lecroy said. A gallon of regular sells for $2.89

Whiz Mart Texaco at U.S. 411 and State Route 9 in Centre reported that the station had plenty after getting a delivery Friday morning. It figures it has enough to last two days. Regular is pumping for $2.99 a gallon.

Across the street from Whiz Mart, the Pump House Exxon has only the regular blend at $2.89 a gallon. Manager Dianne Stimson said while the two other blends were empty, there was enough regular to do. She said she is receiving a full supply each time the truck comes, but it isn't coming as often as before.

Murphy U.S.A. at the Centre Walmart increased its price from $2.79 to $2.89 a gallon for regular Friday morning
