The Cherokee County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will meet at 3 p.m. in the Cherokee County Administration Building. The agenda will include discussion on Winter Weather Emergencies and Road Conditions. The public is invited.

The Centre City Council meets at 5 p.m. in Centre City Hall on Main Street in Centre.

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group meets at 6 p.m. at the ROC (Recreation Outreach Center) of First Baptist church on the Chesnut Bypass. For contact information, call Paul and Suzanne at 256-779-5794 or Lori at 256-779-3387.

During the month of January, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Restaurant Month to help promote local eating establishments. Some local restaurants will be offering specials throughout the month in observance. To find out which restaurants are participating and the specials they are offering, call the Chamber at (256)927-8455.

In high school basketball action, Alexandria plays at Cherokee County beginning at 4:30 p.m., Valley Head plays at Collinsville beginning at 5 p.m., Pleasant Valley plays at Sand Rock beginning at 5 p.m., Piedmont plays at Wellborn beginning at 5 p.m. and Cedar Bluff plays at Skyline beginning at 6 p.m.
