RSVP is sponsoring the AARP Driver Safety Program at the Chamber of Commerce Arena, on the campus of Gadsden State Community College on July 24, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. AARP developed this 8 hour classroom refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. The course explains the changes that occur in vision, hearing, and reaction time as we age and provides useful driving safety tips for handling these changes. Another advantage to taking this course is that several major auto insurance carriers offer discounts to graduates of the program. This course involves no tests. There is a $14 fee ($12 for AARP members) which goes directly to AARP to cover the cost of classroom materials. An Educators Special of $5 is available to anyone working in the education system for this class. Call RSVP at 256-549-8147 for more information and to register.
Spring Creek Fire Department will have a Door to Door Donation Drive to update equipment during the month of July. Firefighters will wear ID Badge and will drive the fire truck for this campaign. All donations are tax deductible.
