The SO-COOL (School’s Out-Camp of Organized Learning), sponsored by the Centre Rotary Club and Cherokee County Alcoholism/Substance Abuse Council is now taking place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the National Guard Armory in Centre through July 13.

Centre First Baptist Church, 373 East Main St. in Centre, is having Space Quest Vacation Bible School June 18-22 from 9 a.m. until noon for ages Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. The Cherokee County Public Library’s Wee Readers program will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Looking for a good chess opponent? The Cherokee County Chess Club meets at the Cherokee County Public Library from 3: 30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Hubert Cox Memorial Singing School will be held June 18-22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. each evening at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Dennis George will be the instructor. All age groups are welcome. There is no charge to participate.
