The Cherokee County Industrial Development Authority meets at 7:30 a.m. in the conference room of Gadsden State Community College-Cherokee, 801 Cedar Bluff Road. For more information, call Luanne Hayes at 256-927-1805.

The Family Care Center at 1014 West Main St. includes a Thrift Store open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Family Care Center helps others by giving clothing, food and possibly hope to families in their time of need. The Center asks for your help by supporting its thrift stores. There are currently two locations, the one in Centre and another at 5511 Main St. in Hokes Bluff. The Center is currently helping more than 100 families per week and thanks the community for its continued support. Director is Cindy McGinnis.

The SO-COOL (School’s Out-Camp of Organized Learning), sponsored by the Centre Rotary Club and Cherokee County Alcoholism/Substance Abuse Council is now taking place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the National Guard Armory in Centre through July 13.

Centre First Baptist Church, 373 East Main St. in Centre, is having Space Quest Vacation Bible School June 18-22 from 9 a.m. until noon for ages Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. Events will include Bible Study missions, crafts, music, recreation and snacks. For more information, call the church office at 256-927-3316 or go to the church website at www.fbc.centre.org. The Hubert Cox Memorial Singing School will be held June 18-22 beginning at 6:30 p.m. each evening at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Dennis George will be the instructor. All age groups are welcome. There is no charge to participate.
