Weiss lake Angler’s Trail will be held from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Little River Marina and Lodge, 1780 county Road 44, Cedar Bluff, Ala. 35959. The team bass tournament is open to the public. Official start will be SAFE DAYLIGHT. Weigh-in is at Little River Marina at 3 p.m. For more information, call 256-779-6461.

The Cherokee County Public Library has on ongoing book sale. Get paperbacks for as little as a dime and hardbacks for as little as 50 cents or $1. The library is open today from 8 a.m. until noon. Call the library at 256-927-5838 for further information.

The Auburn vs. Alabama Iron “Ball” Golf Classic will be played Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Cherokee County Country Club, beginning at 8 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the local Auburn and University of Alabama Alumni Club Scholarships. There will be four persons per team. Teams include the Tees: White: Men (14 to 64); Gold: Sr. (65+) and Jr. (13 and under): Red: Women For more information or for an entry form, call the Cherokee County Country Club at 256-927-5070. A 26-inch RCA Combine LCD HDTV/DVD’s (or similar) will be given away.

TheatreCentre presents Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton impersonators at the Gadsden State Community College-Cherokee Arena beginning at 7 p.m.

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring The Year of Alabama Food this week Aug. 17-26. Participating Chamber Restaurants, offering specials durign the week include Artic Snow, Lanny’s, Mountain Parkway Grill, Pat’s Perfections, Sageberry and Two Sisters Hearty Habit Café.

Sunday, Aug. 19

The Centre First Baptist Church contemporary worship service, “Impact” begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Edge, a contemporary worship service that welcomes each person as he or she is and challenges us all to grow together in our faith in Jesus Christ, meets at 8:45 a.m. at Centre First United Methodist Church.

New Prospect Number One Baptist Church will having Homecoming Sunday, Aug. 29, beginning at 10 a.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Sanford DeBerry. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Catholic Mass is held the first and third Sundays at 5 p.m. at Knowledge Tree Day Care.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.
