Cherokee County Camp of Gideon’s International Prayer Meeting will be held at 7 a.m. at Days Inn in Centre.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.

The Cherokee County Public Library has on ongoing book sale. Get paperbacks for as little as a dime and hardbacks for as little as 50 cents or $1. The library is open today from 8 a.m. until noon. Call the library at 256-927-5838 for further information.

Visit the historic Cornwall Furnace on Cherokee County Road 92 in Cedar Bluff.

In high school basketball action, the Annual pat Ball Christmas Classic will be played at Hokes Bluff (boys). Spring Garden plays Walter Wellborn beginning at 5 p.m., Westbrook Christian plays Pleasant Valley beginning at 6:30 p.m. and Hoke Bluff plays Southside beginning at 8 p.m. The Battle of the States Tournament featuring the Piedmont Boys and Hoke Bluff Girls will be played at Hiawassee, Ga., the Asbury Christmas Tournament will feature the Sand Rock and Collinsville Boys and the WQSB Tournament at Albertville will feature the Cedar Bluff and Fort Payne Boys.

Sunday, Dec. 30

Centre First Baptist Church will hold Fifth Sunday services at the ROC. Sunday School will begin at regular time, 9:30 a.m., with worship services beginning at 11 a.m.

Salem Baptist Church in Piedmont will host the gospel group The Servers for its Fifth Sunday Night Singing. The meal begins at 5 p.m. Singing begins at 6 p.m.

Big Rock Congregational Holiness Church will host a special singing with Fresh Start beginning at 5 p.m.

The 23rd Annual Festival of Trees and “Let It Snow: The Exhibit” will be on display through Jan. 31 at the Hardin Center in Gadsden. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for children and free for hardin Center members.

“Alabama’s Finest 2012-Crafts” will be on display through Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the Museum of Art in Gadsden. There is no admission charge.
