Saturday, Sept. 8

The first meeting of the year for Barry Springs DAR chapter will be Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. in the conference room of Cherokee County Library. The program will be on the "Trail of Tears" presented by Mrs. Sharon Freeman from Gadsden, Al.(She also has been working at Barry Springs and Ft. Likens.)

In high school volleyball action, Sand Rock plays at Sardis tournament (TBD).

The 24th Annual Leesburg Day Celebration will be held in Leesburg Town Park beginning at 9 a.m. The event will feature antique cars and tractors, a 911 Memorial Service, entertainment and more throughout the day.

Bay Springs Motel and Campground resumes its Saturday Night Gospel singings which will be held the second and fourth Saturday night of each month beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Brian a friend (or two or three) and chairs and come to enjoy good music and a wonderful time of fellowship. For more information, call 256-927-3618.

A Corn Toss Tournament will be held in Cedar Bluff Town Park beginning at 10 a.m. Cost is $20 per team. All ages invited. Prizes will be awarded to winners.

Sunday, Sept. 9

The Centre First Baptist Church contemporary worship service, “Impact” begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Edge, a contemporary worship service that welcomes each person as he or she is and challenges us all to grow together in our faith in Jesus Christ, meets at 8:45 a.m. at Centre First United Methodist Church.

Alexis Missionary Baptist Church will host a Homecoming featuring the Davis Trio beginning at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Noah Baptist Church in Centre is having a Homecoming beginning at 11 a.m. with Freedom from Sevierville, Tenn. Singing will resume at 1 p.m. after lunch.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.
