The Town of Cedar Bluff has received a $3,000 grant from the Coosa Valley Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) council for a promotional brochure and web site upgrade. Mayor Ethel Sprouse saw the need for the town’s own brochure to help attract tourists, retirees and businesses.

“We want to do everything possible to help move the town forward and help it grow,” said Sprouse. “The town’s web site was dated and needed to be spruced up. Most visitors will go to the town’s website first, and it needs to be user friendly and of high quality.”

“Mayor Sprouse believes we’ve got to promote the city and be proactive,” said Cedar Bluff Town Council Member Norman Burton. “We have to upgrade the software. The software was so old you could not get tech support. That is how old it was. We are looking forward to this and I think we are headed in the right direction.”

“It has been an idea of mine for a long time,” said Sprouse.

“We needed to be much more proactive, both for the tourists that come here and for businesses that look to relocate here.

“A brochure is an ideal way to do that. It will help them see the beauty of the area, the friendliness of our people and just the overall atmosphere and quality of life here.

“We are going to actively use this (brochure) going forward to seek out developers, businesses, increasing tourism and encouraging them to come and maybe relocate.”

“We will have a state of the art website that we can maintain here,” said Sprouse. “We are just very thankful that Coosa Valley gave us the money to do this. And we can be proactive and promote our beautiful town.”

State Senator Phil Williams stopped by to officiall congratulate Sprouse and the town on receiving these funds.

“I fully support Mayor Sprouse’s efforts and congratulate her on marketing in 2012,” said Williams. “I think this is a great step forward for one of the most beautiful towns in my entire district. I congratulate Mrs. Sprouse’s leadership on this project.”

Eddie May, executive director, Coosa Valley RC&D Council, said that projects like this help the entire region to grow.

The council is headquartered in Oxford, and covers 11 counties. He expressed his appreciation to Senator Phil Williams and Representative Richard Lindsey for their help in making these type grants possible.
