Wright is retired from the Alabama Department of Public Safety Driver License Division in supervision after 23 years of service in 1995. Prior to becoming a state employee, Wright worked for the Covington County School System as a junior high school science and cosmetology teacher for five years. After relocating to Gadsden, Ala., she was employed with the G.C. Murphy Company of Agricola Shopping Center and the Federal Day Care Center Project PEEP Program. Wright is married to Henry Wright and is the mother of five biological sons and five stepchildren.
As for her community service, Wright served on the YMCA Board in Centre, the Centre Board of Directors for the American Red Cross, Variance Zoning Board-City of Centre, Cancer Society Volunteer-City of Centre and the Board and President of the Spirit of Cherokee-Centre.
Wright is a member of St. Mary United Methodist Church in Centre where she is on the Board of Trustee Committee, a choir member and a member of the United Methodist Women>Nurturing and Outreach-Mountain Lakes.
