Thursday Basketball Roundup: Sand Rock girls fall to Southside

SAND ROCK – Paige Ashley netted 13 points and Karlie Anderson added 11, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats past Class 5A Southside on Thursday. They lost 73-50.

Lana Bell added 10 points and eight steals for Sand Rock (3-3).

The Lady Wildcats host Class 2A, Area 13 opponent Westbrook Christian on Tuesday.

Boys

Gaylesville 59, Georgia School for the Deaf 22

GAYLESVILLE – Josh Whitaker scored 11 points to lead the Gaylesville Trojans past Georgia School for the Deaf on Thursday, 59-22.

Zack Cavin, Ross Van Pelt and Trey Jordan each contributed eight points. Luke Murphy netted seven points and tallied nine rebounds. Andrew Lindsey posted 13 rebounds.

Gaylesville (2-3) plays at Victory Christian on Friday and hosts Trion, Ga. on Saturday.
