Centre City Council approves three more alcohol sales applications

The Centre City Council, following the recommendation of the Alcohol Review Committee, has approved three more applications for alcohol sales within the city limits.

During the council’s Tuesday, April 12 meeting, Tommy Loder, chairperson, recommended Mapco Express (former Pump House location) for beer and retail table wine (off premises); The Golden Beverage for retail liquor, wine and beer (off premises) and the Express for retail beer and table wine (off premises).

The council accepted a bid on the repairs to Raintree Subdivision road from Kimes and Stone, inc. of Boonesville, Miss. for $69,673.

The council also approved repairs to the Dixie Youth Parking Lot. The county has agreed to make the repairs at a cost of $35,623.40.

The council opened bids on a compact track loader but agreed to review the bids before making a decision.

In other business, the council:

-Adopted a resolution declaring Aug. 5-7 as a Sales Tax Holiday.

-Appointed Noah Dobbins to the zoning adjustment board to replace Derreck “Pete” Lemons whose term has expired.

-Re-appointed Tim Gifford to the Centre Recreation Board. His term will expire Nov. 1, 2014.

-Re-appointed Cindy Day to the Centre Recreation Board. Her term will expire Nov. 1, 2015.
