The Cherokee County Historical Museum, 101 East Main St., Centre, has a new display, a 1933 Player Piano. Citizens are invited to come by for a demonstration. The museum is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.museumatcentre.com
The Cherokee County Board of Education meets at 6 p.m. in the board office, 130 East Main St. in Centre.
The Family Care Center at 1014 West Main St. includes a Thrift Store open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Family Care Center helps others by giving clothing, food and possibly hope to families in their time of need. The Center asks for your help by supporting its thrift stores. There are currently two locations, the one in Centre and another at 5511 Main St. in Hokes Bluff. The Center is currently helping more than 100 families per week and thanks the community for its continued support. Director is Cindy McGinnis.
Following the April 27 devastating storms which hit the area, Cherokee County Department of Human Resources is teaming up with some 48 agencies to provide the first of its kind monetary assistance to those sho suffere losses. The center will be set up at Fairview Methodist Church 230 County Road 26 in Centre.
