The Family Care Center at 1014 West Main St. includes a Thrift Store open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Family Care Center helps others by giving clothing, food and possibly hope to families in their time of need. The Center asks for your help by supporting its thrift stores. There are currently two locations, the one in Centre and another at 5511 Main St. in Hokes Bluff. The Center is currently helping more than 100 families per week and thanks the community for its continued support. Director is Cindy McGinnis.

Cherokee County Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) will have its picnic meeting at 11 a.m. at Centre First United Methodist Church.

The Centre Lions Club will meet at noon on the second floor of First Southern State Bank.

A Canyon Camp for Children will be held at Jacksonville State University’s Little River Canyon Center, Room 129, beginning at 6 p.m. Organizer is Amanda Wade

Swimming lessons will be held at Centre City Pool beginning at 6 p.m. For further information, call (256)927-3511.
