The Centre Rotary Club meets at noon on the second floor of First Southern State Bank, 201 W. Main St., Centre, Ala.

The Cherokee County Health Authority meets at noon in the Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation Center, 877 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.

RSVP is sponsoring the AARP Driver Safety Program (formerly 55 Alive) to be held at the Cherokee Medical Center, 400 Northwood Drive, Centre, AL 35960 on August 22, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. AARP developed this 8 hour classroom refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. The course explains the changes that occur in vision, hearing, and reaction time as we age and provides useful driving safety tips for handling these changes. Another advantage to taking this course is that several major auto insurance carriers offer discounts to graduates of the program. Interested persons should contact their insurance carrier to see if such a discount is available. This course involves NO TESTS. For more information or to register for the course, please call RSVP at (256) 549-8147. There is a $14 fee ($12 for AARP members) which goes directly to AARP to cover the cost of classroom materials.

The Cedar Bluff Town Council meets at 6 p.m. in Cedar Bluff Town Hall on Spring Street in Cedar Bluff. For more information, call 256-779-6121.

The Cherokee County Commission meets at 5 p.m. in the Cherokee County Administration Building. The work session begins at 4 p.m.
