U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) will attend a breakfast with citizens of Cherokee County at Jack’s Hamburgers on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 8 a.m. CST. Senator Sessions will provide an update on budget negotiations in Washington and discuss the need for Congress to tighten its belt, spend responsibly, and curb our dangerously rising debt. This is an opportunity for locals to meet Sessions and ask questions. All media are welcome to attend.

Gadsden State Community College will allow students to obtain ID cards for 2011-12 through September 16 at several campuses across its system including the GSCC-Cherokee campus in Centre in the library, Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. For contact information, call 256-927-1808.

The Cherokee County Public Library, 310 Mary St., Centre, offers art classes for children ages 8-14 at 3:30 p.m. each Thursday. Instructor is Cloud Farrow. Children must provide their own 8 x 10 sketch pad and 2 charcoal pencils. For more information, call 256-927-5838.

Mothers of Preschooler's (MOPS) meets from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 2765 County Road 22, Centre, AL 35960. Call 256-927-3214 for further information.

Raising a Standard Outreach meets Thursdays at 6 p.m. at 840 Park St. in Centre.
