Gadsden State Community College will hold Spring 2012 registration Jan. 5-6. Beginning Jan. 9, bookstore hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Ayers, Gadsden/McClellan) and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Cherokee County campus).

The Family Care Center at 1014 West Main St. includes a Thrift Store open to the public Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Family Care Center helps others by giving clothing, food and possibly hope to families in their time of need. The Center asks for your help by supporting its thrift stores. There are currently two locations, the one in Centre and another at 5511 Main St. in Hokes Bluff. The Center is currently helping more than 100 families per week and thanks the community for its continued support. Director is Cindy McGinnis.

During the month of January, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Restaurant Month to help promote local eating establishments. Some local restaurants will be offering specials throughout the month in observance. To find out which restaurants are participating and the specials they are offering, call the Chamber at (256)927-8455.

Cherokee County Celebrate Recovery offers support groups for chemical dependency, co-dependency, grief, divorce and loved ones of chemical dependency, and much more. Child care available. Call 393-2861 for more information.

The Cherokee County Historical Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. For more information visit www.museumatcentre.com
