SPRING GARDEN – Tyric Scales scored a game-high 29 points to lift Cedar Bluff to an 85-32 win over Spring Garden in boys basketball action on Monday.

Kyle Crane added 19 points and Marcus Reese netted 16 points for the Tigers (10-9).

No one scored in double figures for Spring Garden (2-20).

Piedmont 58, Sacred Heart 41 – In its opening-round game of the Calhoun County Tournament on Monday, Piedmont connected on 11 3-pointers to help down Sacred Heart.

Leading the charge for the Bulldogs (16-7) was Christian Cantrell, who finished with 15 points, nine assists and four steals. Jamaal Johnson added 11 points.

With the win, Piedmont advances to face White Plains on Thursday in the tournament quarterfinals.

Girls

Spring Garden 60, Cedar Bluff 38 – Hannah Hutcheson scored 18 points and Tara Mullinax came away with 16 points to lead Spring Garden past Cedar Bluff on Monday.

Jess Brannon led Cedar Bluff with 15 points.

Spring Garden improved to 22-2 on the season, while Cedar Bluff dropped to 8-13.

Piedmont 55, Weaver 26 – Jeleca Johnson and Brittany Strott both netted 10 points to lead Piedmont to the win in their opening-round game of the Calhoun County Tournament on Monday.

Piedmont improves to 13-8. The Lady Bulldogs will face White Plains in quarterfinal action on Thursday.
