Basketball Roundup: Barton leads Warriors past Cleburne County

HEFLIN – Richard Barton netted 16 points to lead the Cherokee County Warriors to a 36-29 victory over Class 4A, Area 10 rival Cleburne County on Friday.

Darius Covington added six points and Malandro Chambers finished with five points for the Warriors (13-7).

Cherokee County girls 43, Cleburne County girls 17

HEFLIN – Madison Brannon tallied 13 points, helping the Cherokee County Lady Warriors earn a 43-17 victory at Cleburne County on Friday.

Madison Millsaps and Tori Davis both contributed 10 points for the Lady Warriors (15-5).

Cherokee County travels to Fort Payne on Saturday at 5 p.m.

DeKalb County Tournament

Collinsville girls 67, Valley Head girls 47

SYLVANIA – The Collinsville Lady Panthers earned a spot in the DeKalb County Basketball Tournament championship game with a 67-47 victory over Valley Head Friday.

Christy Cox led the charge for the Lady Panthers (15-8) with 21 points. Kristen Ford contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Brittney Tidmore finished with 13 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

The Lady Panthers will take on Geraldine in the girls county championship game on Saturday.
