CEDAR BLUFF – Zack Cavin is the lone senior on the Gaylesville Trojan basketball roster. On Tuesday night against Valley Head in the Class 1A, Area 14 tournament at Cedar Bluff, he finished his varsity basketball career with a bang.

Cavin came away with 19 points, including three 3-pointers to go along with three assists, but the Trojans’ season came to an end with a 60-45 setback.

With the win, the Tigers (3-17) advance to face top-seeded Cedar Bluff (15-13) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Gaylesville’s season comes to a close at 3-20.

Valley Head jumped out to a 15-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter and held a 30-19 advantage at halftime. The Tigers maintained a 44-33 lead at the end of three quarters and went on a 16-12 run in the fourth for the final.

Gage Jones led the Tigers with 25 points, including four 3-pointers. Dallas Gregory added 10 points and Tristian Smith contributed nine points.

Gable Lawson added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Trojans. Matthew Herrin finished with nine points.
