Lillie Ledbetter, who rose to fame taking on Goodyear over equitable pay for men and women, will address the Cherokee County Democratic Club this Tuesday, Feb. 14, at noon in the Cherokee County Chamber of Commere meeting room on the campus of Gadsden State Community College-Cherokee.
Because of Ledbetter's actions, President Barack Obama proposed legislation, the Lillie Ledbetter Act, which was later enacted, to prevent such inequities from happening in the future.
The Centre City Council meets at 5 p.m. in Centre City Hall.
The Cherokee County Tea Party Association meets at 6 p.m. at the Dean Buttram Senior Center.
The NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group meets at 6 p.m. at the ROC. Call Paul and Suzanne at 256-779-5794 or Lori at 256-779-3387 for further information.
