Weekend Boys Basketball Roundup: Sand Rock closes gym with rout of Sylvania

SAND ROCK – Justin Mackey scored 23 points as Sand Rock topped Sylvania 64-46 in the final varsity basketball game played at Sand Rock's old gymnasium on Friday.

Brannon Burt added 18 points for the Wildcats (18-9), while Riley Norris finished with 13.

Donavon Dangleton led Sylvania with 11 points

Friday's games

Pleasant Valley 85, Spring Garden 48 – At Pleasant Valley on Friday, Spring Garden’s Corey Anderson scored 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Panthers to the win.

David Smith added 10 points in the Panthers’ loss.

Cameron Fortenberry scored 21 points for the Raiders (12-16). Terry Johnson added 20. Brody Barker had 18 points and 13 rebounds and Zade Adams added 11 points.

The Raiders outscored the Panthers 20-8 in the first quarter, then tacked on a 26-point third quarter to complete the blowout.

Collinsville 74, Valley Head 56 – At Collinsville on Friday, the Class 1A, No. 9 Panthers had four players score in double figures in the victory over Valley Head.

Collinsville (14-10) got 18 points from Kenny Orr, 16 points and seven rebounds from Tyler Tidmore and 15 points, five rebounds and five assists from Robert Gray.

Shon McElrath also chipped in with 10 points.

Jacob Vane scored a game-high 31 points for Valley Head.

Sacred Heart 54, Gaylesville 35 – In Anniston on Friday, the Cardinals led 48-19 after three quarters and held on in the fourth to win at home.

Cory Powell led the Cardinals with 10 points.

Saturday's games

White Plains 71, Spring Garden 31 – At White Plains on Saturday, Spring Garden’s Kaleb Morris netted 10 points and Casey Steward added nine, but White Plains came away with the win.

Carlton Caver was one of four players in double figures for the Wildcats, with 15 points and five rebounds, in the win.

Curtis Bowman, Elgin Bowman and Tyler Black each scored 10 points for White Plains.

Collinsville 69, Donoho 49 – Trey Jones scored 22 points to lead Collinsville to the win over Donoho on Saturday.

Robert Gray added 18 points, had nine rebounds, six assists and five steals for Collinsville (14-10). Kenny Orr posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Tyler Tidmore had nine points and three assists.

Jacksonville 55, Piedmont 51 – At Piedmont on Saturday, Ethan Maske led all scorers with 29 points as Jacksonville overcame a 33-19 first-half deficit.

Tristan Garmon added 18 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

Marquise Diamond led Piedmont with 21 points. Christian Cantrell had 16 points.
