The Carpenters for Christ recently returned from their annual mission trip with the work being done in this area at New Life Ministries in Ider, Ala.

The workers from six states arrived to begin construction of the interior walls, partitions, stage with baptistery, electrical, plumbing, and insulation inside an 80 by 100 foot metal building.

The congregation had out grown the facilities that they had been renting to worship in.

During the week the largest number of volunteers on site was 126, representing 23 churches, four denominations, from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, and Missouri.

By Tuesday of the week all the vertical walls were in place, and the electrical, and plumbing progressing.

There were seven worship services highlighting the week’s progress.

The average temperature during the week ran in the 80s, with more than 30 gallons of Gatorade and water consumed.

The Spiritual rating for the week was a 10 out of 10, with blessings too numerous to count.

Some dry wall was started as this group will be followed by another group of carpenters to finish the dry wall. The group was fed by the Carpenters’ “super group of cooks that go with us every year, with most carpenters gaining weight during the week.” Don Chinchos Mexican Restaurant in Fort Payne brought food for two meals to show their appreciation for workers coming into the area to volunteer.

The meals and worship services were held at the East Brow Community Church, and the Northeast Baptist Disaster Relief Association provided a shower trailer for some of the volunteers.

When all the Carpenters for Christ groups are finished, New Life Ministries will have a great facility to worship in. Carpenters extend a special thanks to God, all the volunteers, and scholarship donations received to make this ministry happen.
