Alabama Cooperative Extension Office will host a seminar on cooking and preparing simple, healthy meals Aug. 14 and 21 at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Community Room on the campus of Gadsden State Community College-Cherokee in Centre. The Cherokee County Public Library’s Wee Readers program will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Looking for a good chess opponent? The Cherokee County Chess Club meets at the Cherokee County Public Library from 3: 30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

There will be a Political Candidate Rally on Aug. 21, 2012 at 6 p.m. for the candidates for the City of Centre Council and Mayor positions. This rally is open to the public and everyone in the City of Centre is invited to attend. There will be a question and answer forum so if you have questions for either the councilmembers (present and future) or Mayor (present and future) please join us on August 21, 2012 at 6 p.m. The people with questions will need to be at Shiloh Baptist Church by 5:30 pm in order to have your questions included in the forum.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education is Tuesday, August 21, 2012 and will be held at the Central Office.
