Georgia man arrested after driving stolen truck

Local agents arrested the driver of a stolen vehicle Wednesday, Sept. 5 after the driver nearly hit a Cherokee County Deputy.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Billy Joe McMurry, 31, of Wildwood, Ga., changed lanes and almost hit an investigator’s vehicle. The deputy stopped the truck and discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant from Dekalb County and the truck was reported stolen from Fort Payne.

McCurry was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center and placed on hold for Ft. Payne Police Department, Shaver said.
