Sand Rock, Collinsville maintain volleyball rankings

BIRMINGHAM – Class 2A Sand Rock (9-0) and Class 1A Collinsville (4-1) maintained their No. 7 rankings in the latest Birmingham News volleyball poll, released on Thursday.

Sand Rock travels to West End of Walnut Grove on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. Collinsville travels to Sylvania, also on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Four other area teams received nominations for this week’s poll: Class 4A Cherokee County (6-5), Class 3A Piedmont (7-5), and Class 1A teams Spring Garden (7-8) and Cedar Bluff (3-6).

Cherokee County is scheduled to play at Plainview on Thursday at 6 p.m. Piedmont hosts White Plains at 7 p.m. Spring Garden travels to top-ranked Donoho for a tri-match with Anniston Thursday at 5 p.m. Cedar Bluff also has a tri-match Thursday with Boaz at Gaston beginning at 5 p.m.
