WOODVILLE – Collinsville fumbled on its first offensive series of the game, then reeled off touchdowns on five straight drives en route to a 41-8 victory over Woodville on Friday.

Deshawn Moore had a 31-yard touchdown run and a 42-yard scoring catch from C.J. Jones in the first quarter, helping the Class 1A, No. 9 Panthers improve to 3-0 overall and in Region 7.

“I thought, after that early fumble, our offense had a pretty good night,” Collinsville coach Alan Beckett said.

“I thought our effort could have been better. We did a good job on defense taking away their wing-T, which is their thing, so I thought our defense did a good job. Our babies gave up a score late.”

Collinsville ran for 224 yards on 29 carries and passed for 154 yards.

Justin Little led the way on the ground with 51 yards on four rushes, including a 30-yarder for a touchdown in the second quarter.

Edgar Padilla ran for a 29-yard score. Daniel Bradford and Nick Hoffman also had touchdown runs for Collinsville and David Hernandez was 4 of 5 on point-after kicks.

Woodville (0-3, 0-2) got a late score on Austin Morrison’s 15-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion.

Collinsville will take on Sumiton Christian on Friday at Paul Snow Stadium on the Jacksonville State University campus.
