Mr. Dorman Hillie Lott passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012. He was born in Frostproof, Florida. Mr. Lott was a member of the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Gadsden. He was a Mr. Lott served his country in the US Army, the US Air Force, and the US Air Force Reserves. The majority of his service was as an air traffic controller in the US Air Force, from which he retired with the rank of Major. During his military career, he served in Vietnam during war time, and in posts around the world including Alaska, Oregon, and Germany. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Lott worked for the US Civil Service, training air traffic controllers in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Lott holds a Bachelors degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Georgia and a Master’s in Business Administration from Florida State University. He has also completed technical courses of study in auto mechanics and auctioneering and the US Air Force Command and Staff College.
Funeral services for Mr. Lott was held Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Gadsden with Rev. David Barfield officiating. Burial followed at Cherokee Memory Gardens with military honors. Perry Funeral Home is directing. www.perryfuneral.net.
Mr. Lott is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sybil A. Lott; daughters Amy Hurley of Reidsville, Geo., and Julia (Andy) Dingus of Watkinsville, Geo.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lott was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth F. Lott, and two brothers, Broward and Buford Lott.
