In high school volleyball action, the Cherokee County Volleyball Tournament will be played at Gaylesville beginning at 9 a.m. (Tournament is double elimination) Cherokee County plays Gaylesville, Spring Garden plays Cedar Bluff and the Cherokee County-Gaylesville winners plays Sand Rock.

The Cherokee County Public Library has on ongoing book sale. Get paperbacks for as little as a dime and hardbacks for as little as 50 cents or $1. The library is open today from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Call the library at 256-927-5838 for further information.

The Sand Rock All School Reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Sand Rock Town Hall. Beginning at noon. Everyone is invited to bring a covered dish and reunite with old and new friends.

The Cherokee Corners Block Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Verizon Cellular Center of Centre, AL, Catos, Dollar Tree, Advance America, Taco Bell, Waffle House, the Cherokee County Historical Museum, AAA Eagle Bail Bonds, Pizza Hut, and several others have come into a collaborative tree to host and sponsor the event. The event itself will have plenty to do. Door prizes will be able to be won, including two 100 dollar gift certificates, numerous small gift certificates, a blue tooth speaker, and much more. . Live music featuring Wade Trammell will be featured at 3 p.m. The American Red Cross will be giving a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Food a plenty will be seen there, including various food vendors, lemonade, cotton candy, pretzels, peanuts, jerky, pork skins, and much more. Face painting and hair coloring will also be there.

The Centre First Baptist Church contemporary worship service, “Impact” begins at 8:30 a.m.

The Edge, a contemporary worship service that welcomes each person as he or she is and challenges us all to grow together in our faith in Jesus Christ, meets at 8:45 a.m. at Centre First United Methodist Church.

Visit the beautiful Rock Village, home of some of the best hiking and rock climbing throughout the world. Enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery. Go to the intersection of U.S. Highway 411 and Highway 68 in Leesburg, turn right, turn left on Cherokee County 36, to the intersection of County Road 36 and County Road 70, turn left and follow the signs.

Visit the historic Cornwall Furnace on Cherokee County Road 92 in Cedar Bluff.
