These celebrations will be held on Main Street in downtown Centre.
Centre City Clerk Mary Lee Tucker said plans are moving “full speed ahead” as the city prepares to celebrate .
At least nine Walt Disney characters will serve as Grand Marshal for this year’s parade and will also be available for photo opportunities with children and adults alike.
These well-known personalities include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Chipmunks, Donald Duck, Snowwhite and others.
Events will kick off at 8 a.m. with the Cherokee County Resource Center’s Annual 5K/10K run and health walk event .
A children’s fun run will follow the 5K/10K.
To date, more than 200 local children have signed up for the fun run, Tucker said.
As in the past, vendors selling food, arts and crafts and other items will line the city sidewalks that day, giving visitors a huge choice of things to observe and purchase. Currently, more than 100 vendors have signed up, Tucker said.
Fall Festival 2012 will give local citizens an opportunity to meet with and get to know local and state candidates for public office this November as some will have booths and exhibits set up.
This year’s parade, Tucker said, in addition to the Disney characters, will include antique cars, horses, tractors, the Cherokee County High School Marching Band and numerous other attractions.
Entertainment begins at 8 a.m. in the Regions Bank Parking Lot with Daniel Mulkey and Brook Daniel McGinnis will perform from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Katie Hill will perform at 11:30 a.m.
Ronny Kisor and Friends will perform the finale concert from noon until 1 p.m.
