MR. CARL D. SANFORD

Mr. Carl D. Sanford, 71, of Lyerly, Georgia passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 in a Rome hospital. A native of Round Mountain, Alabama, Mr. Sanford graduated Mississippi State University on a football scholarship and began a forty year manufacturing Executive career in Summerville, Georgia with Georgia Rug Mill, later Bigelow-Sanford Rug Mill; then to Canada, then with BASF/Honeywell in Dalton. Afterward retiring to the 750 acre Family farm on Holland-Chattoogaville Road.

Surviving are his wife, Tippy Sanford; sons-Colter Sanford, Chattoogaville, Tyler, Summerville; four grandchildren, sister, Dixie Messer, Cedar Bluff, brothers, Sam Sanford, Cedar Bluff, D.C. Sanford, Jamestown, Ala., and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sanford was the son of the late Cicero and Rena Ward Sanford.

A Private Funeral service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 7th, from 3 until 5 pm at the residence on Holland-Chattoogaville Road, Lylerly. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
