On Oct. 9, 2012 the mayoral run-off election result came in around 7:30 p.m. to the Cedar Bluff Town Hall. The announcement came that Martha Baker has been elected as the new mayor of the town of Cedar Bluff. The final totals were Ethel Sprouse 186 and Martha Baker 205. The first council meeting when Baker will take the reins as Mayor will be in November.

Sprouse made a public comment stating "I would like to thank everyone that came out to vote today, I appreciate your participation in the election. I would like to thank those that supported me during my term as Mayor and would like to wish the town of Cedar Bluff the very best and I will be supportive of the endeavors of Martha Baker as she tries to move the town forward."

Spoken by a woman who has Cedar Bluff at heart and exits onto newer chapters in her life with grace and dignity.
