Slight changes for area teams in latest ASWA volleyball rankings

Three area teams continue to be ranked in the latest Alabama Sportswriters Association volleyball poll, released on Thursday.

Class 2A Sand Rock (29-7) held steady at No. 6 in this week’s poll. The Lady Wildcats play in the Cedar Bluff tournament on Saturday.

Speaking of Cedar Bluff, the Lady Tigers (23-16) fell one spot to No. 8 in this week’s Class 1A poll. Collinsville (22-12) also dropped one spot to No. 6.

Two other area teams received nominations for this week’s rankings: Class 1A Spring Garden (24-16) and Class 3A Piedmont (26-10).

Spring Garden, which has won six straight matches, plays in the White Plains tournament on Saturday. Piedmont has a tri-match with Pleasant Valley at Oxford on Monday.
