Spring Garden turns in dominating performance at Donoho

ANNISTON - Spring Garden's running back tandem of Forrest Livingston and Tyler Morgan combined for over 300 yards rushing to lead the Panthers to a 44-21 victory at Class 1A, Region 7 rival Donoho on Friday.

Livingston accumulated 199 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Panthers (7-1, 6-1). Morgan managed 139 yards and a touchdown.

Livingston got the Garden going with a 3-yard touchdown rush with 8:16 to go in the first quarter. The Panthers missed the extra point, keeping the score at 6-0.

Junior quarterback Will Ivey accounted for Spring Garden's next touchdown with an 11-yard connection with senior tight end Jake Grogan at the 3:12 mark of the opening quarter. Livingston rushed in for the 2-point conversion, giving the Panthers a 14-0 advantage.

Spring Garden's defense forced a safety for its next score, pushing the Panther lead to 16-0 with 1:42 to go in the first quarter.

Livingston opened the second-quarter scoring with his 30-yard touchdown run. The Panthers went for two and were successful on Grogan's 3-yard reception, putting Spring Garden in front 24-0.

Donoho (4-4, 4-3) got on the scoreboard with just under a minute remaining before halftime on sophomore running back Justin Foster's 83-yard touchdown run, making it 24-7 Panthers at halftime.

Spring Garden dominated the third quarter by scoring three touchdowns.

Livingston dashed 40 yards at the 10:21 mark for his third score of the night. Senior fullback Craig Jones accounted for the Panthers' next touchdown on a 10-yard run with 7:33 to go in the third. Morgan capped the third-quarter scoring wiht a 40-yard run, giving Spring Garden a 44-7 lead.

Foster scored the Falcons final two touchdowns in the fourth quarter on runs of 20 and 45 yards.

Ivey finished with 76 yards rushing and threw for 78 yards. He also had four tackles on defense. Morgan also added six tackles and recovered a fumble. Alan Herter had five tackles and Jones tallied three tackles and a sack.

Spring Garden hosts undefeated Cedar Bluff on Friday.
