MRS. SYBLE KILGORE TATE

Mrs. Syble Kilgore Steele, 81, of Centre passed away Monday, November 5, 2012. Mrs. Tate was native of Etowah Co. She moved to Cherokee Co with her family where she grew up and attended school, She graduated from Cherokee Co high school, where she met her future husband Hugh Steele, After marrying, she spent a short time In Chattanooga Tenn., but returned to Gadsden in 1960, where she graduated from Gadsden Business College and began work as an accounting assistant. Mrs. Tate married Bill Tate in 1968 and remained in the Gadsden area until 1977 when she moved to Huntsville. There she worked for Montgomery Ward Inc. until retiring in 1995. She remained in Huntsville until 2003, at which time she returned to Centre.

Funeral service will be 1 pm Friday, November 9, 2012 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 am – 1 pm Friday, November 9, 2012. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the American Heart Association in Mrs. Tate’s Memory. Collier- Butler Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tate is survived by her children, Terry D. and Denise (Shaw) Steele, Michael B. Steele, Jeffrey P. and Ann (Deavor) Steele, Sharon K. Eblen, eight grandchildren, sisters; Odie Lecroy, Jimmie Sue Burgess, Joyce Collins, Brother; Guy Kilgore, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her parents: Carl J. Kilgore and Corrie Ester (Ashley) Kilgore, husband: Hugh D Steele, Husband; William C. (Bill) Tate, brothers; Walter Kilgore, Jack Kilgore, sisters, Francis McCaulley, Jean Garner, and Zera Wagnon.
